Should a B2B company publish pricing on its website?

Most B2B software still hides its price, and buyers keep saying that is the wrong call. Only 4 percent of G2 product profiles carry an explicit number, still more than 9,300 of them, and a 2026 CommonMind survey put 58 percent of its B2B SaaS respondents in the no-pricing column, the highest non-disclosure rate of any segment it surveyed. Publish the exact figure where you can and a starting-at range where you cannot, because price is the question a buyer checks first.

Key takeaways

  • Only 4 percent of G2 profiles show a price, which is still over 9,300, and 2,300 more say contact us.
  • Buyers have named published pricing their top ask of vendors for four years running, per TrustRadius.
  • The conversion lift everyone quotes is a 2024 figure reaching us secondhand through a 2026 guide.
  • Enterprise deals can hold the exact number back, but a starting-at range still answers the first question.

How many B2B software companies actually publish pricing today?

Almost none, on the two counts we found. G2 shows an explicit price on 4 percent of its product profiles, and a 2026 CommonMind survey put 58 percent of its B2B SaaS respondents in the no-pricing column.

That 4 percent is still more than 9,300 profiles, with data as of March 2025, which says more about the size of G2's catalogue than about vendor openness. More than 2,300 profiles carry a non-numerical call to action instead, a contact us button sitting where the number should be.

CommonMind's figure comes from 169 marketers surveyed between November 2025 and February 2026, published on April 19, 2026, with 59 at B2B SaaS companies. That group had the highest non-disclosure rate of any segment, against 49 percent across all industries. Fifty-nine respondents is a thin base, and CommonMind's own summary says 57 percent where the body of the report says 58.

Among the brands CommonMind rated as having an emerging or mature AI strategy, 70 percent publish pricing. Among those with no strategy at all, 43 percent do. CommonMind claims no cause, and we are not going to supply one.

What do buyers say about vendors who hide their price?

They say the price is the thing they want most from a vendor site. TrustRadius reports that transparent pricing has been buyers' number one wish-list item for four years running, since it started asking in 2023.

Its 2022 edition surveyed 2,185 technology buyers that February, and 71 percent named published pricing the top thing a vendor could do to make a purchase likelier, just ahead of demos and free trials at 70 percent. Both figures reach us through an August 2, 2026 guide from Digital Applied rather than from TrustRadius directly.

We read it as a question about effort rather than money. A buyer comparing four vendors rules out two in a minute when the prices are on the page. Hide yours and you are asking them to book a call to find out whether you are in range. Most go check the two that told them.

Nothing on this topic was published in the last 30 days. The newest we found is that August 2 guide, four days outside the window.

Does publishing pricing actually change conversion or sales cycle length?

The numbers people quote say yes, and they are weaker than they look. A 2026 pricing-page guide cites 2024 ChartMogul data putting a 38 percent higher bounce rate on contact-for-pricing pages, plus 2024 OpenView Partners benchmarks on demos converting 17 percent better and deals closing 14 percent faster.

All three figures reach us through that one guide, on successknocks.com. The underlying work is ChartMogul's and OpenView Partners', both from 2024, and we found neither original. Two-year-old numbers, quoted this year as news.

The companies that publish are also the ones whose pricing is simple enough to publish, and simple pricing closes faster on its own.

The bounce rate is the figure we would act on, because bouncing is what a buyer does when a page fails to answer the question they arrived with. You can check that in your own analytics next week without trusting anyone's benchmark.

When does it make sense to gate pricing behind a form instead?

When the real number depends on facts you do not have yet, which describes most enterprise contracts. Seat count and support terms move the total far enough that one figure on the page would be wrong for nearly everyone.

Gating the exact number is defensible. Gating the range is not. The same successknocks guide puts pages with a starting-price floor at 22 percent better conversion than a blank contact us wall, citing OpenView's 2024 benchmark again, even where the pricing is fully custom.

The version we build with clients names a floor and what moves it up, with the form after that rather than in front.

What we cannot tell you is what the floor costs in negotiation. The objection we hear on sales calls is that an anchored number caps the top of a deal, and we have not seen a study testing it.

FAQs about Should a B2B company publish pricing on its website

1. Do most B2B SaaS companies publish pricing on their website?

No. G2 shows an explicit price on 4 percent of its product profiles, still more than 9,300 of them as of March 2025, with another 2,300-plus using a non-numerical call to action. CommonMind's survey of 169 marketers, fielded between November 2025 and February 2026, put 58 percent of its B2B SaaS respondents in the no-pricing column. Two different methods, same direction.

2. Does publishing pricing improve conversion?

The published figures say yes, with a weak chain of custody. A 2026 pricing-page guide cites 2024 ChartMogul data on a 38 percent higher bounce rate for contact-for-pricing pages, and 2024 OpenView Partners benchmarks showing demos converting 17 percent better and deals closing 14 percent faster. We read all three through that guide rather than the originals.

3. Is it ever right to hide pricing behind a form?

Yes, for the exact number on enterprise deals where seat count and support terms decide the total. Hiding the range is harder to defend. TrustRadius reports that transparent pricing has been buyers' number one wish-list item for four years running since it started asking in 2023, and 71 percent of the 2,185 buyers in its 2022 survey named it the top thing a vendor could do.
